2009 Oscars...

Honestly, I wasn't too impressed this year...nobody really stood out fashion wise...Taraji looked good...Viola Davis looked nice...Queen Latifah looked bomb...and Halle as always dressed to impress...other than that...blah. I just feel like ever since The Oscars after 9/11 when the stars choose to wear darker colors and there was no red carpet that they never really knew how to bounce back as far as color is concerned...sure there is always one standout star but overall...nothing.

As far as the actual show itself...there were four things that I really enjoyed:

1)HUGH JACKMAN!!! For those of you that watch the Tony Awards every June...you are familiar with Hugh and his hosting style. I really love how he speaks to the audience and spices things up with musical numbers. When I 1st heard that he was going to be hosting the awards I was so excited and I was glad that he didn't disappoint. However...even though I liked the musical numbers...the one he did with Beyonce and the HS Musical kids did fall a lil flat...and they were a bit time consuming.

2)KATE WINSLET!!!! Love, love, LOVE her!!!! I'm so glad she won...and once again...I knew that she wouldn't disappoint when it came to her acceptance speech!

Shoutout to Meryl Streep cuz she's a BEAST...period and Anne Hathaway...cuz she's awesome as well.

3)PINEAPPLE EXPRESS!!!! Need I say more?

4)Back Down Memory Lane! I thought it was soooooooo sweet and super personal to have past winners present the awards. It was nice to hear one actor/actress praising their fellow thespian's work...nd then see a shot of them tearing from the audience. It was a lil time comsuming...but touching nontheless.

My Dad Was Like This...

...I love it!

O Woooooooooooooooooooooooord.....

So this was in the New York Post the other day...

NY Post editor Col Allan defended the cartoon: "The cartoon is a clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut. It broadly mocks Washington's efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist."

...o hellllllllllll to the naw!

Throwback Vid of The Day...

Before Kanye did "Heartless", there was...

"It use to be love, happieness and companionship
Remember when I treated you good
I moved you up to hills, out the ills of the ghetto hood
Me and you a happy home, when it was on
I had a love to call my own..."

...this used to be my isssssssssssssssssssh!

"It's 7...I Counted..."

Everyday we set a new record...love u babe.

"If you with me then you love how I do it
If my heart you're livin' in your ocean I'm swimmin' in
Never drowning got me floatin' watching you in slow motion
Love potion overdosin approachin
The explosion of my senses everyday without your heart
is like a sentence in jail
Trust I'll always be mentally free
You got the key to let it out I'll show you how it could be..."

I'm On Tornado Watch...

Since my roommate isn't home....I'm played music and danced around my room while it stormed for a lil bit cuz uhhhhhh...as much as I LOVE thunderstorms in LA...ATL has some beast storms...I'm talkin thunder so loud and so hard you can feel the ground shake and lightening so sharp and bright u'd swear u just saw Jesus write his name across the sky...but the aftermath is beautiful tho...

But anyways...write now I'm watching the Hornets vs. Magic game...but on mute...cuz I like to make commentary on the plays myself...lol. O and "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaay Chris Paul[;)] lol.

But anyway...the reason I was typing this blog was to update everybody on what's been going on with me.

Sooooooooooooo...I've decided after months of fighting with myself....that I'm NOT goin to Grad School. Yeah...after all that...I finally gave in2 something that I realized in August. Truth is...I just don't want to work a "regular job" when I graduate and do plays here and there until I'm in "high demand"...plus I got about a little under $60,000 in loans and payment on those will be deferred until I get outta school...so as long as I'm in it...loans are no worry. But seriously...to be in school just cuz I feel like it's my only option...is not a good reason to go at all. Especially when I just want to go into theatre. So once I finally accepted that fact yesterday...I started looking for jobs at local theatre companies in ATL so I can possibly stay in ATL next year, and I looked at jobs in LA...just in case I have to back in my parents crib. But while I was looking I came across an "apprenticeship" application for a local theatre company in ATL. And that...my dear readers is when I smiled. The program takes place from September-May and basically I'll be able to shadow actors that are in the plays as well as be an understudy for the productions myself as well work on other acting projects in the Atlanta area. so now the only thing I need to do is find a job for now...and for next fall...as well as find a 2nd job for the summer{cuz I will be in LA in FULL effect} so that I can save for my apt...everyday I'm hustlin.

Duece.

I'm Writing Again!!!!

I haven't really been inspiredto write in like 2 years...so be happy you guys!!!!!

Killing Me Softly With His Song...

Let me just say that I abosolutely HATE "The Wiz"....but the song the Tinman sings..."What Would I Do If I Could Feel"...is singing my life at the moment...I've played it at least 20 times since it came on Tito's shuffle this morning.

What Would I Do If I Could Feel (feat Nipsey Russell) - The Wiz

What would I do
If I could suddenly feel
And to know once again
That what I feel is real?

I could cry
I could smile
I might lay back for a while
Oh, tell me what
What would I do if I could feel?

What would I do
If I could reach inside of me
And to know how it feels
To say I like what I see?

Then I'd be more
than glad to share
All that I have inside of here
And the songs
My heart might bring
You'd be more
Than glad to sing
And if tears should fall from my eyes
Just think of all the wounds
They could mend
And just think of all the time
I could spend
Just being vuln'rable again
Oh, tell me what
What would I do?
Oh, tell me what
What would I do?
Oh, tell me what
What would I do
If I could feel?

Chris Brown vs. Rihanna...What Really Happened....

My homeboy made this...lmfaoooooooooooo.

2.15.2009

Untiltled...

"It has been days since she'd been laying on the floor. Her face pressed against the cold, hard tile of her bathroom floor was all she had at this point. Her roommate had come in two days ago and ran some water in her bathtub...but she was sure that the water was ice cold by now. She had stopped trying to turn her head a few days ago because everytime she lifted it an inch off the floor her ears would start to echo with her screams. Everytime she would blink she would shutter because all she could see in those few short seconds of darkness was the same scene over and over again. Her clothes had stiffened in the dry brown blood that had stained them five days before, and now they were starting to stink. How could life be so cruel? How could it allow her to feel so much pain in just a few short hours?"

To be continued????? Maybe...maybe not...

90's...

After yesterday's post, I decided to make a playlist of all my fav 90's tunes...I must say...this list isn't even HALF of the stuff I listened to back then. Man...the 90's was my childhood 4real...I can't even explain how hearing this music takes me back and makes me feel. So sit back...relax...and remember the times...

Grammy's 2009....

I must admit...this year's Grammy's was the 1st one in a few years that I've actually watched all the way to the end. I was really satisfied with most of the performances and the award winners. My only question was: Tha Carter III for best Rap Album...seriously???? Dnt get me wrong...I love the album hell...I started my day with Mr. Carter 4 a month straight....and don't evvvvvvvven get me started on "Tie My Hands"...but come on...American Gangster???? The Cool????? Paper Trail???? Did I mention The Cool????? I think that vote needs a recount...I'm just sayin.

But ooooooooooo was the actually show NOT the highlight of the evening!{in my "sister-girl" voice} Soooooooo...word on the street {and by "street" I mean Mediatakeout.com and every other media outlet accessible...} is that Chris Brown has allegedly been accused of assaulting Rihanna. Now I had heard{from the streets of course} tht Chris and Rihanna had split up and that they apparently had been having some serious arguments...but I had squashed that idea when I heard they were back together. Rihanna is reportedly fine...but nursing a black eye. I also hear that Chris Brown has turned himself into the police and is being held on $50,000 bail. I really hope this is just sum bs that can be swept under the rug...cuz like my roommate put it..."That's just like Jay-Z hitting Beyonce!!!!". Lol.

Here's clips of my fav performances...

Love the Black and White effect...

What was up with the double track tho???

This song is like the story of every girls life!

she seriously made me cry

Rooooooooobinnnnnnnnnnnnn[:-*]...listen to the note he hits in the beginning!

I also loved Sugarland and Adele's performance but I can't find it right now so I'll post it later.

[[Post-Script]]: Hoodlum is on!!!![:-D].

[[Post-Post-Script]]: As promised the Sugarland/Adele performance

25 Random Facts About Me...Blog Edition...

I'm sure all of you that has a facebook has seen these "Top 25" Notes as of late...i even got sucked in and posted one. But after I did, I thought of 25 more weird facts about me...and I'm bored...so here's some more.

O...and don't worry....there won't be any tagging this time:)

1. I've become addicted to reading these "Top 25" notes on Facebook...whenever I'm bored...thats probably what I'm doing.

2. I'm a child of the Movement. My godfather was a pioneer in the Civil Rights Movement and have even met many other activists of the movement as a child. Because of this my parents have always raised me on non-violent ideals. Strangely enough though...I got whuppins as a kid and I have a strange obsession with the Black Panthers.

3. With #2 being said....I ABSOLUTELY hate that song "ain't gonna let nobody turn me round" from the movement...everytime I hear it, it makes me wanna cover my ears

4. I have always wanted to have an older sibling...which explains why I have a lot of "play" older brothers and sisters

5. I LOVE basketball more than any other sport. I don't care whose playing so long as it is a good game.

6. Even though I do like a few players on the Lakers {Ariza, Sascha, and Bynum} I am NOT a Laker fan.

7. After my boyfriend reads #7, my "hotness" rating is going to drop a little...lol.

8. I love art's and crafts and randomly make creations...I have an extensive collection of art supplies.

9. I only attend church at home for the social aspect{looooooooong story}...but because I'm not being religiously fed by the sermon...I usually read during them.

10. I kno a lot more people than you think...hell I kno a lot more people than I think.

11. With #10 being said...I talk to people at random and never kno their name so the next time I see them, I'm usually scared to speak to them cuz I dnt kno their name.

12. I cnt stand disrespectful old people...especially when the refuse to address/acknowledge me as an adult.

13. When my house got robbed over the summer, the theives went thru everything including my underwear drawer...I wanted to buy all new underwear for a week after that.

14. I'm really not a phone person...matta of fact, there is only 4 people that I actually have phone convos with.

15. I love to do sudoku puzzles.

16. My dream meal would consist of : greens, bbq ribs, spaghetti, and roasted corn.

17. I love surprises...but I hate it when people tell me they have a surprise for me but don't tell me wat it is right then and there...I hate waiting.

18.I have serious control issues.

19. I watch porn...lmao.

20. I love the movie Hoodlum

21. I love old white musicals...Showboat is my favorite.

22. I love the way my bf laughs.

23. I've never been high before.

24. Everytime I see Phylicia Rashad's Jenny Craig commercial...I wanna call and lose weight with her.

25. I hate feet.

The Quest For Higher Knowledge...

As most of ya'll kno, I spent Mon-Weds in Chicago auditioning for grad schools. All in all, i think they went pretty well but here's a play-by-play of what happened each day...

Monday:
Arrived in Chi-Town arounf 8:30am
Checked in2 my hotel around 9
Chilled for a min
Ate lunch
Went to orientation for the first audition at 12:30pm
1st audition at 2:30pm
Found out I didn't get passed on to finals at 5:30pm
Got pep talks from the hubby and my boy J...ya'll are the best...J, it was wat I needed to hear...Dwayne, I dnt even remember what my life was like without you in my corner.
*note* for URTA, you go to a "American Idol-esque" audition for the 1st round where you just audition in front of 2 screeners...not the actual college recruiters. You have 3 mins to do both of your monologues, and if they like you, then the next day you get to audition in front of the recruiters.

Tuseday:
Went to Open-Call auditions
Made friends with all 6 black people that were there...lol
Auditioned...and did my thang...I must say...lol
Got a callback from Indidana University
Met with the recruiters from Indiana University...and was basically told that I should have been passed on to final auditions yesterday and that if they make me an offer and I accept it...they cover my tuition in full, plus they give me a $1,000 stipend per month.
*note* at the open-call, we have one-minute to deliver one of our monologues...the bad news is, all the schools that are recruiting aren't required to stay for the open calls...so only abt 6 out of the 22 schools that were there saw me.

Wednesday:
Went to my audition for A.C.T.{American Conservatory Theatre} at 9am...it went well...energy was high...the recruiters were nice
Did a "walk-in audition" for UCLA at 10am...best audition EVER!!!!!
Did a "walk-in audition" for USC at 11:30am...lowkey...I really liked them...they knew my teacher, the recruiter remembered me from his visit to my Acting I class 2 yrs ago...and my aunt is his boss:)...I'll be hearing from them by next Thursday.
Was on a plane back to ATL at 2pm

As I said before this was a great trip and overall a great experience. I would have to say that URTA was my least favorite experience...but at least I can say that I survived it. UCLA's audition was so great I really don't even care if I make it or not...buuuuuuuuuuut it would be nice to attend my moms alma mater. My first choice is A.C.T. and I really hope I make theirs....*fingers crossed*

I would like to thank E-V-E-R-Y-B-O-D-Y that wished me luck! It's too many of ya'll to name individually so if you hit me or you thought about me and wished me well THANK YOU. It meant so much!Thank you Ms. Bell for being the greatest coach ever! shoutout to Moon to for his help! Thank you MS.LEON{*r.i.p.*} for being the person that you were...I knoooooooo you were blessing me in the USC audition for sure! I also wanna GOD{I kno right, award speech...lol} for blessing me with such an likeable personality and a great smile! And for blessing me with Ms. Leon and everybody else!

I'm Sooooo Gonna Do This One Day...

try one of these next time you get in the elevator....
1) When there’s only one other person in the elevator, tap them on the
shoulder and then pretend it wasn’t you.
2) Push the buttons and pretend they give you a shock. Smile, and go back
for more.
3) Ask if you can push the button for other people, but push the wrong ones.
4) Call the Psychic Hotline from your cell phone and ask if they know what
floor your on.
5) Hold the doors open and say your waiting for a friend. After a while, let
the doors close, and say, “Hi Greg. How’s your day been?”
6) Drop a pen and wait until someone goes to pick it up, then scream,
“That’s mine!”
7) Bring a camera and take pictures of everyone in the elevator.
8) Move your desk into the elevator and whenever anyone gets on, ask if they
have an appointment.
9) Lay down the twister mat and ask people if they would like to play.
10) Leave a box in the corner, and when someone gets on, ask them if they
can hear ticking.
11) Pretend you are a flight attendant and review emergency procedures and
exits with the passengers.
12) Ask, “Did you feel that?”
13) Stand really close to someone, sniffing them occasionally.
14) When the doors close, announce to the others, “It’s okay, don’t panic,
they open again!”
15) Swat at flies that don’t exist.
16) Tell people that you can see their aura.
17) Call out, “Group Hug!” and then enforce it.
18) Grimace painfully while smacking your forehead and muttering, “Shut up,
all of you, just shut up!”
19) Crack open your briefcase or purse, and while peering inside, ask, “Got
enough air in there?”
20) Stand silently and motionless in the corner, facing the wall, without
getting off.
21) Stare at another passenger for a while, then announce in horror, “Your
one of THEM!” and back away slowly.
22) Wear a puppet on your hand and use it to talk to the other passengers.
23) Listen to the elevator walls with your stethoscope.
24) Make explosion noises when anyone presses a button.
25) Stare, grinning at another passenger for a while, then announce, “I have
new socks on”.
26) Draw a little square on the floor with chalk and announce to the other
passengers, “This is MY personal space!”
